One evening I was invited to dinner at a friend's house. As the salad was being passed around I was struck by the unique handle design and brilliantly shining spoon and fork of the salad servers. Over a lovely dinner she told me the story of the women artisans from South Africa that handcrafted them from copper and brass to represent the custom of Ubuntu. The design is both artistic and functional, as the handles are easy and comfortable to hold and the spoon and fork are perfectly shaped to pick up the last tasty bits of salad and get them to your plate without losing a single morsel. As soon as I left I began my quest to find the artists so I could add their work to the VirtuArte collection.
